人诱导多能干（iPS）细胞是通过将episomal质粒导入人骨髓单个核细胞（MNC）使之表达多能性因子OCT4、SOX2、KLF4和c-MYC。细胞的选择以表性特征为标准，不通过荧光标记或药物筛选。在人ES细胞标准培养条件下进行培养时，人iPS细胞与ES细胞表型一致。该细胞同时也表达多能性因子TRA-1-60，SSEA-3和Oct4，并有很强的内源性碱性磷酸酶活性。
