| Rabbit anti SP-1 Glycoprotein antibodyrecogniszes SP-1 also known as Schwangerschaft's protein 1 or pregnancy β1glycoprotein, a glycoprotein marker synthesized in the syncytrotrophoblast of the placenta and secreted into maternal circulation as gestation progresses (Griffiths and Godard 1981). SP-1 glycoprotein has been extensively investigated as an indicator of pregnancy affected by trisomy, particularly as an idicator of down's syndrome affected pregnancy where it appears that maternal levels of SP-1 glycoprotein are significantly elevated compared to uneventful pregnancy (Bartelset al.1988). |
